Giuseppe Castiglione, an Italian missionary painter, was born in Italy. At 19, he joined the Society of Jesus as a friar, studying painting and architecture. At 27, in the 54th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, he came to China as a missionary and was summoned to serve in the imperial court. He excelled at painting figures and birds, especially horses. He painted peonies by using varying shades of color to create layers, depicting the front and back of leaves, and outlining veins realistically, giving them a strong three-dimensional feel. The vase contains rare, twin-stemmed peonies, symbolizing auspiciousness, good fortune, peace, and prosperity.
Through ARTEX's over 30 years of design experience and manufacturing techniques, the painting is reproduced on the pen and notebook using transfer printing and silk screen printing. Simple lines are used to outline peonies on the ballpoint pen body, without overly complex colors, using only white lines to highlight the splendor of the peonies. On the notebook, the deconstructed peonies are presented in an interweaving of real and illusory elements, emphasizing the three-dimensional and layered quality of the original work. The specially crafted rose gold metallic frame adds to the imagery of prosperity and peace.
