Collection and Design Description
"Vase with Western Lotus Pattern in Gilt and Celadon Glaze"
Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period, 1736-1795 AD
This gilt Western lotus vase was made during the seventh year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty. It is a vase 12.4 cm high, with a mouth diameter of 3.5 cm and a base diameter of 4.5 cm, featuring a straight mouth, a long neck, a round belly, and a ring foot. The Qing court referred to this type of vase with a slightly wider and longer neck as a "paper mallet" vase. The outer surface of the vessel is entirely covered with cobalt blue glaze, and the ornamentation is painted in gold and silver. A band of keyfret pattern adorns the rim and shoulder, while the neck and belly are painted with scrolling Western lotus flowers. The bottom edge and ring foot are decorated with lotus petals and scrolling grass patterns, respectively. The rim and base are outlined in gilt, the body is thin and pure white, and the interior and bottom are covered with white glaze. The center of the base bears a six-character, three-line seal script inscription in underglaze blue, "Made in the Great Qing Qianlong Period."
This collaboration with the National Palace Museum integrates the "Paper Mallet Vase with Western Lotus Pattern in Gilt and Celadon Glaze" from the collection into the product. Using the vase as inspiration and the pen and pen stand as carriers, we have created exquisite stationery that carries the essence of classics. The pen is transformed into an elegant classical vase, and the pen stand becomes a tray that complements the vase. The combination of the two pieces makes the pen resemble a work of art, adding brilliance to life with its perfect posture whether used for writing or when not in use, with thoughtful details in every aspect.

From the three-dimensional openwork carving on the upper cap to the printing of the Western lotus pattern on the lower barrel, and the scrolling grass and keyfret patterns on the two golden end rings,
finally, the lower barrel is designed with a slightly convex curved angle, each detail showcasing the beauty of exquisite craftsmanship.
Solid Metal Weight and Comfortable Grip

The three-dimensional openwork cap of this pen is made of pewter alloy, which, due to its softer properties compared to other metals, is suitable for intricate carving techniques,

It is recommended to remove the weight of the cap and only use the weight of the pen body for writing. Combined with the specially designed slightly convex curved pen body, this provides a more comfortable writing experience.
